The pictures this year just weren’t all that. It was bright but cloudy. I forgot my polarizing filter. At least it was windy this year. I ended up just running into a woman I know there. Twice. Quite a feat considering the number of folks that were there.
There a few interesting kites that are worth looking at. Every year I wish I’d spent a little time trying to make one of my own.

I remembered this one from last year. I like it.	In the middle is one of the homemade kites that just amazes the heck out of me.	Check this one out up close. Very complicated bridle.
Really odd. Need to look for other examples of this style. I can’t even tell how it flies.	Store-bought, but funny.	Clearly this year the free kites were red with long tails.
These banners are intriguing to me...	Someday I’ll figure out how to photograph them...	Or maybe even just get lucky...

The main thing I love about the kite festival is seeing them en Masse

Other things of interest:

This dog was really awesome. Very well behaved and very good looking. I have no idea what kind it was. He sure loved playing with that frisbee though.
The much ignored District of Columbia World War memorial (before the late ‘30s there was just the one).
I stopped to talk to this guy flying the funny shaped kite right after getting there. It turns out that he was meeting up with the friend that I was hoping to see. What a coincidence.
Aforementioned friend who asked whether I planned on sharing these pictures or just hoarding them.

One of these days, I’ll find a better program for making web pages. Or I hope, at least, to master Apple’s iWeb. Hey, it was free.
